Hello and welcome to the Fairlawn Church of God's "NEWS and EVENTS" page. Here you can view all the upcoming monthly events and our weekly bulletin. Please come and join us for Wed. Night Service at 7pm and 11:00am Morning worship! God Bless!
On Sunday May 12th at 11AM, we will be having a very special Mother’s Day celebration. The Service will begin with a Mother’s Day program featuring special singing and presentations followed by a powerful Word from our first lady, Alicia Harrison. We want all of our moms to know just how much we love and appreciate you. Happy Mother’s Day!
On Saturday May 18th from 9AM – 4PM, all girls in grades 1-12 are invited to attend our COG Girl’s Jamboree at the COG Campground in Roanoke. The theme will be “You Make Me Brave” and will feature some powerful guest speakers from across our state including Amanda Dick, Cory and Rebekah, and Donna Payne. For more information, please see our Children’s Pastor Amy Gifford or visit vacog.org.
On Sunday May 19th through Wednesday May 22nd, we will be hosting our Spring Revival with Evangelist Steve Board. Rev. Board studied theology at Holmes Theological Seminary in SC and has been serving as a full-time evangelist since 2003. He was Ordained as a Bishop in the COG in 2009, has preached across VA, WV, and TN, and has served on the State Evangelism Board. Our Services will be Sunday at 11AM and 6PM and Monday through Wednesday at 7PM nightly. Come expecting!
On Saturday May 25th from 9AM – 2PM, our Kid’s Church will be sponsoring a KID’S STUFF YARD SALE for their spring fundraiser. They are raising funds for their new curriculum and various items needed for their ministry space in our newly renovated Fellowship Hall. They are looking for donations of any kid related items, baked goods and man power! See Pastor Amy today if you can help! Donations can be brought to the church on Friday, May 24th from 4 – 7PM.
On Sunday May 26th at 11AM, Pastor Marcus will be preaching a message entitled, “The Gifts and Ministries of the Holy Spirit.” This will be the follow-up message to a sermon he preached a few months ago regarding the Fruit of the Spirit. In this message, he will talk about the nine Gifts of the Spirit as outlined in 1st Corinthians chapter twelve and their application in the life of the Christian believer in the 21st century.
On Sunday May 26th, immediately following our morning Worship, Pastor Marcus will be having a Water Baptism for anyone who would like to be baptized for the first time or again after a recent rededication. We believe in the mandate of Jesus to “go and make disciples of all men; baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.” There is a sign-up sheet on the sound booth wall for anyone interested.
