On Wednesday May 1st at 7PM, we will begin a 6-week Marriage Workshop entitled, “What Did You Expect?”  We all go into the marriage relationship with certain expectations.  If those expectations go unmet, it can lead to disastrous consequences.  During these 6 weeks, we will learn some practical applications of how to love your spouse, how to prune the weeds in your marriage, and how to build a wall of trust in your relationship.  We will also offer an alternative class for singles or anyone else that may be interested.  The first three weeks will be taught by Wayne Linkous and the last three weeks will be taught by Sherry Linkous.

On Friday May 3rd through Sunday May 5th, we will be having our Marriage Retreat to Pigeon Forge, TN.  Over the weekend we will enjoy accommodations at Park Tower Inn and tickets to the Smoky Mountain Opry and the Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Feud.  We look forward to spending the weekend with all of our couples from the church and pray that the Lord will continue to strengthen your marriage relationship.  Our adult Sunday School teacher, Terry McCraw, will be preaching for our Sunday morning Service on May 5th.

On Sunday May 5th at 10AM, our Young Adult Ministry will continue in their new teaching series entitled, “God, Where are You?”  They are discovering how to navigate through the wilderness seasons of life.  The wilderness doesn’t have to be a purposeless wasteland.  God can use these times to equip you for your destiny if you learn how to move forward in faith and trust Him on the journey.  Join us as we find strength and purpose in our wilderness.

On Sunday May 5th at 11AM, our Kid’s Church will begin their new series from The Gospel Project.  By the end of this month, they will have completed their 18 month study of the Old Testament.  For the next several weeks, they will be reading about Nehemiah and the rebuilding of the city walls, Ezra teaching the people how to obey God, and God telling His people to repent and get ready for Jesus in the book of Malachi.  All kids ages 3-12 are invited to join us in Kid’s Church!

Our Church of God Youth Camp will convene at the COG Campground in Roanoke during the month of July.  Early bird registration is Tuesday May 7th.   In order to receive the discounted rate, your child needs to register no later than this date.  We have a sponsorship program here at the church so that every child that wants to go to camp, is afforded the opportunity.  If your child would like to go but you cannot afford the cost, please see one of our staff members ASAP to get them signed up.

On Saturday May 11th at 9AM, we will be hosting a Fellowship Hall work day.  We need ALL HANDS ON DECK to help us clean the kitchen, vacuum the floors, clean the restrooms, power-wash the outside of the building, and move some of the items from storage back into our Kid’s Church classrooms and our Youth Sanctuary.  Please bring with you any vacuum cleaners, power-washers, or cleaning supplies that you have available.  We appreciate everyone’s help with this project.

On Sunday May 12th at 10AM, Pastor Marcus will begin a 2-week new members class for those that are new to the church and interested in becoming a member here at FCOG.  We will meet for two consecutive Sundays and talk about the mission and vision of FCOG and who we are as a COG congregation.  New members will be taken into the church on Sunday May 26th during our Worship Service.  Please sign-up at the sound booth.
